In Loving Memory of Matthew Kato February 11, 1987 - July 21, 2004 Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep I am a thousand winds that blow I am the diamond's gift of snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain I am the autumn's gentle rain When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight I am the soft stars that shine at night Do not stand at my grave and cry I am not there, I did not die....

Raising Awareness about the impacts of drinking and driving
February 11, 2007 should have been Matthew's 20th birthday, instead it
marks the 3rd birthday he didn't get to have because of a drunk driver's poor
choices. We went to the cemetery, visited with Matthew, then spend a good
part of the day wondering what he would have been doing had he not been
killed, trying to make sense where there is none and grieving for his loss,
our loss, and his brother's loss. People tell us time heals all wounds, if this
is true, not enough time has passed as our wounds are still fresh, our pain
still intense, and our lives forever changed. Talk to your family about the real
dangers of drinking and driving, not only if they are the driver who has drunk
too much, but also remind them that they share the roads with drunk drivers.
